Wells Co. Mentoring Group Adopts a Soldier

Thursday, February 7th, 2008

mentoring-soldier.jpg     Wells Co. Mentoring adopts a soldier who is serving in Iraq as one of their service projects for the year.  Ron Selensky, from Selz, North Dakota, will receive his first care package from Wells Co. Mentoring by Valentines Day.  Mentors and their youth met to make home-made Valentines Day cards to put with Ron’s favorite snacks and other personal items in his care package.  As mentors and youth meet for their monthly activities, they will be looking for ways to include Ron in the program and let him know that he has local support from home.  This project provides an opportunity for kids to learn about current events, political issues and how they can have a personal impact on their world by reaching out to someone in their community.

For more information on the Wells Co. Mentoring Program, contact Tammy Neurohr at 701-324-4769 ext. 342.

Teen Girls Ministry

Thursday, February 7th, 2008

bug.jpg     Nearly 60 local teens met at the Harvey Mennonite Brethren Church for an interdenominational christian pajama party.  B.U.G. (Beautiful, Unique, Girl) is a group of five young ladies from Canada who travel to various places to promote self esteem, body image and our uniqueness in Christ.  What a wonderful opportunity to get together, have a good time and learn to accept ourselves as we are!  Because God is our Father, we are daughters of the King of Kings - which makes each and every young girl a princess!  Let’s celebrate all that we are in Him!
