Town Hall Meeting to Address Underage Drinking
The St. Aloisius Community Volunteer Program, Sources of Strength, will be sponsoring a Town Hall Meeting, for adults, to address underage drinking on Tuesday, March 11th. The meeting will start with a free supper at City Hall at 6:00 pm, followed by a short presentation at 7:00 pm.
Recent surveys with our youth show that underage drinking is a significant problem. It is real and it is affecting our kids, in our community, our neighborhoods and our homes.
Area youth will have met the week prior to this meeting to address alcohol issues and the suttle (and not so suttle) messages that they receive from society, which says that underage drinking is not only acceptable, but that it is almost expected. As parents, ministers, teachers and other community leaders, we need to show up and support their decision to take a stand against society’s norms. Please participate in this meeting to help empower our young people to make healthy choices about a growing problem that can affect them for the rest of their lives.
