Harvey PD writes Grant to Stop Violence Against Women
Tuesday, June 17th, 2008The STOP Violence Against Women Formula Grant Program is designed to support communities in their efforts to develop and strengthen effective law enforcement and prosecution strategies to combat violent crimes against women and to develop and strengthen victim services in cases involving violent crimes against women.
North Dakota’s STOP Implementation Plan was developed to address implementation of victim-centered strategies that encourage law enforcement, prosecution, courts, victim advocates, nonprofit victim service providers, other components of the criminal justice system, and appropriate community agencies to collaborate within and among themselves in an effort to end violence against women.
Harvey Police Department Grant Application Summary:
The Harvey Police are requesting funding for a dedicated fax line, computer line, and computer to aid in confidentiality of domestic violence victim’s information and to provide secure instant information to victim’s advocates. Currently, The Harvey Police do not have a confidential fax line nor a dedicated computer for processing of domestic violence cases with the prosecuting attorney and victims advocates. A domestic violence fax and computer would drastically improve the rate at which the prosecution and victim advocates receive information from the police officers.
