*Read and follow all warnings and instructions.

*Be sure other people are out of range before lighting fireworks.

*Light fireworks only on a smooth, flat surface away from the house, dry leaves and flammable materials.

*Never try to relight fireworks that have not fully functioned.

*Keep a bucket of water handy in case of a malfunction or fire.

Marvin gives to the Community

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

Harvey High School seniors will be offered another scholarship application thanks to  and benefactor Marvin Frey.  Frey has donated $10,000 through the Harvey Kiwanis to the Harvey High School.  The amount will be distributed in annual amounts of $1,000.

Frey attended the June Kiwanis meeting and presented his check to Dan Stutlien, the superintendent of Harvey Schools.  “I think this is a wonderful gesture for Marvin to do.  He’s providing kids with an opportunity,”  Stulien remarked.  “He could have done anything, but he chose to help others.  This scholarship will ensure someone who qualifies gets help.”

The main stipulation of the scholarship is that is goes to someone who isn’t already receiving a scholarship.  Frey, who is single and has no children, said he wanted to make sure his aid truly helped a student who needed it.  The first Marvin Frey Kiwanis Scholarship will be available to a 2009 Harvey High School graduate.
