St. Aloisius contracts with St. Alexius to provide hospice services to terminally ill patients and their families.
Hospice is a comprehensive team-oriented program of care that seeks to treat and comfort terminally ill patients and their families - at home or in a home-like setting. Hospice establishes pain management and symptom control as clinical goals, and understands that psychological and spiritual pain are as significant as physical pain.
Volunteers are trained in death, dying, grief and loss issues, the hospice philosophy, the psychological and social issues that families deal with and providing quality, compassionate care to terminal patients and their families.
For more information on how you can make a difference, contact the St. Aloisius Sources of Strength Volunteer Program at 24-4769 Ext. 342.

The Faith in Action mission is to provide non-medical services to people in need through interfaith volunteers. The focus of the program is to integrate faith and health to help maintain a high quality of independent life for those with long-term health needs, especially people who are elderly or have disabilities.
We provide volunteers with training and match them with others who could use their help. Volunteer caregivers provide simple, basic assistance such as transportation to and from medical appointments. The local Harvey area Faith in Action volunteers have provided over 25,000 miles of medical transportation for people who may not have otherwise received needed services in the last two years.
Our Faith in Action program is overseen by the Central Dakota Ministerial Association.

Senior Companions are healthy older adults who help other adults live independently. Senior Companions provide support to family caregivers. They assist with grocery shopping and other daily tasks necessary to maintaining independence. They offer senior citizens encouragement to remain active, provide a helping hand to make sure they take their medications, a watchful eye to notice when extra care is needed and a friendship that often lasts a lifetime.
Without the help of Senior Companions, many older adults would not be able to continue living at home and would need more expensive, less personal care.
Senior Companions are over 60 years of age, can volunteer 20 hours a week, have limited income and enjoy helping their neighbors.
For more information on how you can make a difference, contact the St. Aloisius (Sources of Strength) Community Volunteer Program at 324-4769 Ext. 342.

The mission of Wells Co. Mentoring is to strengthen our young people by providng them with caring, positive relationships (one of the eight components of the Sources of Strength).
Mentoring is simple. It is caring, being yourself and spending consistent time (about an hour a week) with a young person. It’s so simple that it is making a difference, one life at a time.
Mentors are not there to “fix” their youth or solve their problems, but to simply be a friend. Become involved in one of the most effective prevention efforts and help today’s youth become tomorrow’s leaders - Be a Mentor!
For more information on how you can make a difference, contact the St. Aloisius (Sources of Strength) Community Volunteer Program at 324-4769 Ext. 342.
